I am happy to let you know Galeria Joan Gaspar will exhibit my work
"Le Corps Vecu" during the 16th edition of PHotoEspana:
From June 4 to July 31, 2013, in the context of PhotoEspaña, the Joan
Gaspar Gallery of Madrid in partnership with the Voies Off Gallery
of Arles and the French Institute of Madrid will present an exhibition
of Marlous van der Sloot (1986).
The exhibition ‘Le corps vécu’ of Marlous van der Sloot questioned
the theme of ‘Body, Eros and political’, the common thread of the
2013 PhotoEspaña programming. The sheer and disrupted beauty
of her models can investigate human body through opposite yet
complementary perspectives. In front of these images we are
revealing ourselves to the privacy of her models. This impression
of proximity is immediately countered by the strange sensation
that causes unusual attitudes and gestures of the characters.
The artist questions the alienation of the human being in a society
that denies the feelings in favour of reason. The works of
Marlous van der Sloot offer a poetic vision of the sensitive body,
its ability to have pleasure and to suffer.
Born in Holland in 1986, Marlous van der Sloot is one of the great
discoveries of the 2011 Voies Off Festival. That same year, she
graduated from the Royal Academy of Arts (The Netherlands) with
work focused on the perception of senses. Her work has been
presented at the Voies Off Gallery in Arles, Naarden Fotofestival,
Singapore International Photography Festival and Slideluck Potshow.
She worked for Nederlands Dans Theater, Korzo Theater and Me Studio.

Zoum Zoum: Coeur à prendre
Tuesday, 6 March 2012
Laure Troussiere from the French photography blog "Zoum Zoum"
interviewed me about my ongoing series of coincidence heart shapes.
The post came along with a small introduction, which you can read below:

UpComing Choreographers
Sunday 21 March 2010
For the non-dutch speakers a rough translation below...
UpComing Choreographers komt er weer aan! Drie
in theater De Regentes in Den Haag.
aanstormende choreografen hun danstaal verder ontwikkelen.
For UpComing Choreographers three dancers are selected who have the most
obvious talent for choreography. They get a chance to show their worth
with new ballets and have them performed by their fellow dancers. Apart
from dance, they can have their own way with lighting, sound and set.
This often results in fresh and original art on stage.
‘UpComing Choreographers’ is the sequence to Switch, the programme for
up-and-coming choreographers, and has more than once launched a
professional choreographer. Medhi Walerski and Lukás Timulak are the
most recent examples of this. UpComing Choreographers is a night full
of raging talent! So, are you interested in new developments in dance
and in Nederlands Dans Theater? Then UpComing Choreographers
is a must-see!
UpComing Choreographers is on show in Theater de Regentes
in The Hague. The creation process is followed and documented by
photography students of the Royal Academy of Arts (Koninklijke Academie
voor Beeldende Kunsten) in The Hague, and the results are displayed in
De Regentes on performance days.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Marlous van der Sloot (1986) graduated in 2011 from the Royal Academy of Arts
in the Netherlands, where her work developed towards the perception of senses.
In the modern society we often want to forget that 'the physical' is also a source of
information. Because of rationalisation, we turned away from our 'ordinary' world,
convinced that our senses do not learn us anything valuable. But we cannot ignore
our body and look at it as a 'lifeless bag of cells'. We don't just have a body, we are
a body. Forgetting this gives us the same feeling as a sleeping arm. In this condition
your limb is biological still yours, but you do not experience it as yours.
It seems the arm of a stranger...
The alienation of our body is the theme of my work. My aim is to create images
which raise physical awareness.
